The Panama City Police Department announces the arrest of Jose Antonio Mercado, 19 years of age and Joseph D. Serrano, Jr., 17 years of age. Mercado is being charged with Discharging A Firearm In Public, Carrying A Concealed Firearm, Tampering With Evidence, and (2) two counts of Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. Serrano is being charged as Principle To Aggravated Assault With A Deadly Weapon. The Panama City Police Department received calls in reference to gunfire at Macedonia Garden Apartments located at 1722 W. 17th Street. After speaking with witnesses and the victims Patrol Officers located Mercado and Serrano. Detectives with the Panama City Police Department investigated the crimes resulting in the above-mentioned charges. Mercado reportedly fired several shots at two individuals and Serrano was with him at the time he fired the shots. Both Mercado and Serrano were arrested at approximately 11:49 P.M. on May 16th, 2010 without incident. No injuries were reported during the incident.
