The Panama City Police Department is hosting the first “Operation Clean Out Your Medicine Cabinet”. This is a pharmaceutical medication destruction program. The operation will take place on Friday, July 9th, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and on Saturday, July 10th from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 P. M. at the Panama City Police Department located at 1209 East 15th Street across from Gulf Power.
This program is intended to assist citizens in disposing of old, unwanted, or expired medications. When those prescription medications are left in your medicine cabinet there is a chance that they could be illegally used, stolen or consumed by children. Flushing medications could enter into our water system and possibly contaminate our water supply.
Similar events have been held by other Law Enforcement Agencies and they have collected over 60 pounds of old, unwanted, or expired medications for destruction.
Disposing of your old, unwanted, or expired medications is extremely important. So bring your old, unwanted, or expired medications to this free collection event and they will be properly disposed of free of charge.
Please bring your old, unwanted, or expired medications in their original container. Items that will NOT be accepted are sharps, medical waste, nuclear medications or thermometers. For additional information please contact Sergeant Jeff Becker at 850-872-3137.
